Application Information

A message from the campus:

Thank you for considering Georgia Regents University, soon to be Augusta University. At GRU, there are countless opportunities to engage in a dynamic learning environment, experience student life, and delve into research. Located in Georgia’s second largest and oldest city, Augusta, our institution offers over 120 programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels throughout nine academic colleges, including Georgia’s only public medical school, the Medical College of Georgia, and the only dental school. Students can enjoy involvement in over 110 student groups and organizations while they cheer on the NCAA Division I and II Jaguars.

Important Dates

The fall 2016 early action deadline for Freshman is November 15, 2015.

The fall 2016 application for general applicants will close July 1, 2016.

Admissions Procedures

Please fill out the online application as thoroughly as possible. When you have completed all highlighted sections, click the SUBMIT button on the Certification screen. If sections are greyed out, you will skip them as they are not required for your area of interest. Print the application agreement statement that appears after you submit the application. The non-refundable application fee is $50 (e-check, MasterCard, or VISA).

After your application has been fully processed, you will receive an email with instructions on checking your status at www.gru.edu/admissions.


Beginning Freshman Applicants

To be considered for admissions, students must submit:

  • Online application for admissions and $50 nonrefundable application fee
  • Official high school transcript
  • Official SAT or ACT test scores
  • If dual or joint enrolled at another institution, college transcript(s)
  • Verification of Lawful Presence

Transfer Applicants

To be considered for admissions, students must submit:

  • Online application for admissions and $50 nonrefundable application fee
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended
  • Verification of Lawful Presence

Beginning Freshman documents are required if you have less than 30 transferrable semester hours or 45 quarter hours. Specific programs will require additional documentation. Please review specific admission criteria and documentation for program of interest at www.gru.edu/admissions.


Transient Applicants

To be considered for admissions, students must submit:

  • Online application for admissions and $50 nonrefundable application fee
  • Letter of Good Standing or Letter of Permission from home institution
  • Verification of Lawful Presence


To be considered for admissions, students must submit:

  • Online application for admissions and $50 nonrefundable application fee
  • Additional degree seeking – Official transcripts from all colleges attended
  • Non-degree seeking – Official transcript from the college where the highest degree was conferred
  • Verification of Lawful Presence

Financial Aid Information

All applicants are encouraged to fill out a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Designate Georgia Regents University as one of the colleges to receive your SAR (Student Aid Report). The FAFSA should be submitted as soon after January 1 as possible to meet Georgia Regents University's financial aid deadline as stated above and based on the semester you plan to begin enrollment at GRU. You may also apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

A new application fee must also be paid when an applicant changes their enrollment term.


Financial Aid Priority Deadlines:

  • Fall semester: April 1st
  • Spring semester: October 1st  
  • Summer semester: March 1st  
  • Scholarship Application Deadline for Fall semester: February 1st

Admissions Policies

Satisfaction of legislative requirements on the history and constitutions of the United States and Georgia is required for graduation. Students transferring from another University System of Georgia institution should satisfy this requirement prior to enrollment, but may satisfy during your first semester at GRU.

In accordance with federal law, the Georgia Regents University makes available, upon request, its annual security report which includes information concerning campus security policies and crime statistics. For a copy of this report, please contact GRU Public Safety at (706) 721-2911. Students at distant site locations should contact the college public safety office at that location.

Providing false or incomplete information on this application or any of the documents supporting your application for admission can result in denial of admission, invalidation of an acceptance decision, or, following matriculation, administrative disenrollment or dismissal. Students are subject to disenrollment or dismissal for falsifying application information at any time during enrollment prior to graduation.

In accordance with Board of Regents Policy 4.1.6, all applicants for admission to Georgia Regents University for Fall 2011 or any academic semester thereafter will be required to provide validation of lawful presence in the United States. Acceptance to the Georgia Regents University is conditional until lawful presence is verified. ALL applicants who are U.S. citizens must submit documentation that verifies his/her lawful presence in the United States to admissions@gru.edu.
