Welcome to the online application for the VSU programs offered through the University System of Georgia online collaborative project: Georgia ONmyLINE.  This is a three-step process:

1.     Complete the application. – You can interrupt the process at any time, save your information, and resume your application at a later time.

2.     Complete and submit the admission requirements listed for your program.

3.     Submit the application. – Submit the form and $50 application fee, payable by debit or credit card.  This is a non-refundable fee, so be sure to review the admission requirements below before submitting the application.  If you have questions, contact us: gradschool@valdosta.edu.

 

 

Tuition Information

All GOML programs are assessed at the GOML tuition rate of $385 per credit hour ($1155 per three credit hour course). A flat institutional fee of $295 is assessed each semester a student is enrolled in credit hours.

 

Online Delivery Information

Please note: VSU is not authorized to deliver online programs to residents of Florida and Alabama. We are currently working to secure that authorization.  Please come back to this website for updates on the process or contact us at gradschool@valdosta.edu. The M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction:Accomplished Teaching and the M.Ed. in Middle Grades Math or Science programs use a quick admission process in which acceptance is based upon information provided in the application and verification of a clear/renewable teaching certificate.

Please review changes to the MAT in Special Education Admission Requirements effective Fall 2010 term.

The Ed.S. in Teacher Leadership, as well as the Endorsement and Certificate programs, use a standard admission process.  For review, all required documents must be received prior to the admission deadline for the application term.


Gifted In-Field Endorsement

To be reviewed for admission, the following documents must be received prior to the admission deadline.

Required Admission Documents

Certificate in Online Teaching

**Please note, the Certificate in Online Teaching is not an initial preparation program and does not provide P-12 certification.  It is designed to advance instructional knowledge and skills for effective online instruction.**

To be reviewed for admission, the following documents must be received prior to the admission deadline.

1.     Evidence of the applicant’s bachelor degree (or higher degree).  An official or unofficial transcript will fulfill this requirement.

Online Teaching Endorsement

Ed.S. in Teacher Leadership

To be reviewed for admission, the following documents must be received prior to the admission deadline.

Required Documents and Minimum Eligibility Requirements

1.     A master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution;

2.     Hold a clear/renewable teaching or service certificate at the master’s (T- or S-5) level.  For Georgia teachers, the Graduate School will access evidence of your certificate from GaPSC.  Educators certificate in other status should contact the Graduate School for additional information: gradschool@valdosta.edu;

3.     Submit one official transcript from each school (undergraduate and graduate) where you have previously taken courses;

4.     Have a cumulative graduate grade point average of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.  All previously attempted graduate coursework will be included this GPA calculation;

5.     Submit official scores on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or the Miller Analogies Test (MAT).

·         GRE Minimum: 850 overall (verbal plus either quantitative or analytical) and a verbal of 400 or higher. For tests taken since August 2011, we currently use the concordance provided by ETS while we establish new minimums.

-         MAT: 390 (for MAT’s taken prior to 2004, the minimum score is 36).

M.A.T. in Special Education: General Curriculum & Adapted Curriculum Programs

The MAT program is an initial preparation master’s program providing initial certification at the T-4 level and a master’s degree. Eligible applicants are employed as a teachers and hold non-renewable, non-professional certification (NNT). Teachers with clear/renewable certification in any field, or teachers who have completed an initial preparation program in the past, are not eligible.

Admission Requirements

1.     Submit two official transcripts from each institution (undergraduate and graduate) where you have previously taken courses. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution to be eligible for this program.

2.     Possess a cumulative grade point average of 2.50 on a 4.00 scale. This GPA calculation will include all attempted, college-level coursework at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.  Transcripts must provide documentation of a content concentration consisting of fifteen (15) semester hours of an academic content that conforms with the GAPSC preparation requirements of content concentrations for Middle Grades.

3.     Completed Verification of Employment as a Teacher.  Faxed or scanned copies of this form cannot be accepted.  Click here to access the form.

4.     Documentation of passing scores on the GACE Basic Skills examination or evidence of an exemption based on GAPSC exemption standards for the GRE, ACT, or SAT.

M.Ed. in Middle Grades Math or Science

The M.Ed. programs are for teachers with clear/renewable certificates in Middle Grades Math and/or Middle Grades Science, who wish to increase their certification level to the T-5 level.  These are not teacher preparation programs.  Teachers with provisional certification are ineligible.

Semester Two Full Admission Review

1.     Submit one official transcript from each school (undergraduate and graduate) where you have previously taken courses. 

2.     Must have successfully passed a GACE Content Assessment.  When the Graduate School accesses your certificate, this will meet the documentation requirements.  No additional documentation is generally required from applicants.

All documents required for Semester Two Full Admission Review must be received before your application can be reviewed for full admission.

Students under quick admission status (M.Ed. programs only) are not eligible to register for their second term until all documents are received and a decision is rendered by the department.

Instructions

To complete this online application, type your answers in the corresponding fields or select your answers from the popup lists (where applicable).

After you complete a screen, click the NEXT button at the bottom or on one of the sections listed on the left column to move to a different screen. Before you are allowed to jump screens, we will inspect your data on the current screen for errors or inconsistencies. If errors or omissions are found, you will be returned to the screen to correct your answer(s). Otherwise, your data will be saved and you will proceed to the requested screen. We also allow you to skip to another screen without your new data being saved.
