Application Information

All applicants should check the current college catalog for more specific details concerning admissions procedures and requirements.

  1. After reading the instructions, please fill out this online application as thoroughly as possible. When you are finished, click the SUBMIT button on the left column of any application screen. Applicants must pay a nonrefundable application fee of $20 (MasterCard or Visa).

  2. Submit an official copy of your high school transcript or GED scores, if applicable.

  3. Submit a completed copy of the Certificate of Immunization.

  4. Applicants are not required to submit SAT and/or ACT scores. However, minimum scores of 430 Verbal SAT (17 English ACT) and 400 Math SAT (17 Math ACT) may be used to exempt COMPASS placement testing.

  5. Schedule a time to take the COMPASS placement examination, if applicable.

  6. Students must submit official transcripts from all postsecondary schools previously attended.

  7. After this online application for admission has been submitted, students will receive a letter from the Office of Admissions requesting any additional information required along with the dates for any testing to be completed before entering college.

Application Process for International Student

  1. After reading the instructions, please fill out this online application as thoroughly as possible. When you are finished, click the SUBMIT button on the left column of any application screen. Applicants must pay a nonrefundable application fee of $20 (MasterCard or Visa).

  2. Submit an official copy of your high school transcript or GED scores, if applicable. Any non-American style transcript needs to be translated and evaluated by a credential evaluation service. In lieu of high school graduation, a GED with satisfactory scores is acceptable.

  3. Submit a completed copy of the Certificate of Immunization (with certified English translation if necessary).

  4. Schedule a time to take the college placement examination and the institutional SAT Reasoning Test (SAT), if applicable. If English is a second language, the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), with a minimum score of 480 on the written test or 157 on the computer-based test, must be sent to the Office of Admissions. (Please use TOEFL institution code 5026 for Darton State College.) Students who completed the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in lieu of the TOEFL may submit their IELTS scores. The minimum IELTS score is Band 5.

  5. Students who have previously attended another postsecondary school must request an official transcript to be sent directly to Darton State College.

  6. International students must provide documentation that they have sufficient resources to cover tuition, room and board, health insurance, and other living expenses. Send and affidavit from your financial sponsor and an official letter from the sponsor's bank stating a dollar amount of readily available deposits in U.S. currency to the Office of Admissions. The cost of attendance for 2007-2008 (fall and spring) is $14,970. If you are planning to bring dependents, please add $4,500 for spouse and $2,500 for each child (per 9 months).

  7. If you are already in the U.S., send a copy of your passport, I-94 card (DHS Departure Record), and visa. If you are currently attending school, you also need to send copies of all other immigration documents.

  8. Application deadline for international students (for students who require student visas):
    Fall semester ... July 1
    Spring semester ... November 15

    *Students who are required to apply for student visas at the U.S. embassy/consulate in their home country must apply before the deadline. Applications received after the deadline will be considered the following semester.

    *Students who are already in the U.S. may continue to apply after the deadline dates.

Financial Aid

The Darton State College Office of Student Financial Aid can help you find sources to finance your education.

It is important to apply for financial aid as early as possible to allow for complete processing of your financial aid applications. We want to help you reach your educational goals. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed annually to assist in determining financial need using confidential information provided by the applicant. The Darton State College federal identification number to be used on the FAFSA is 001543. The student must also complete a Darton State College Financial Aid Application annually.

Confidentiality of Student Records

This college is covered by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), which is designed to protect the student's rights with regard to educational records maintained by the college. Under this Act, a student has the right to inspect and review educational records maintained by the college that pertain to the student; the right to challenge the content of records on the grounds that they are inaccurate, misleading, or a violation of privacy or other rights; and the right to control disclosures from the educational records with certain exceptions. A written policy detailing how Darton College complies with the provisions of the Act may be found in the student handbook.

To complete this online application, type your answers in the corresponding fields or select your answers from the popup lists (where applicable).

After you complete a screen, click the NEXT button at the bottom or on one of the sections listed on the left column to move to a different screen. Before you are allowed to jump screens, we will inspect your data on the current screen for errors or inconsistencies. If errors or omissions are found, you will be returned to the screen to correct your answer(s). Otherwise, your data will be saved and you will proceed to the requested screen. We also allow you to skip to another screen without your new data being saved.
