GENERAL INFORMATION

  1. Use this online application to apply for undergraduate admissions. Complete all parts that pertain to you.
  2. The $50 application fee must be paid online with a credit/debit card (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express). This fee is non-refundable. Once payment is authorized, your application is on its way to Georgia Regents University (formerly Augusta State University), and you can no longer make changes to it. All applicants are required to pay the $50 application fee, including former students and applicants changing their status or applying for a different term.
  3. IMPORTANT: This application is good only for undergraduate students (Beginning Freshman, General Transfer, Dual Enrollment, Former Student, Transient, Post Bac, Additional Degree, Etc…). If you have completed pre-requisites for a specific program in one of the following colleges, please visit the admissions website at www.gru.edu/admissions and complete a program specific application rather than this general student application.

  1. In accordance with federal law, Georgia Regents University makes available, upon request, its annual security report which includes information concerning campus security policies and crime statistics. For a copy of this report, please contact GRU Public Safety at (706) 721-2914. Students at distant site locations should contact the college public safety office at that location.
  2. In accordance with Board of Regents Policy 4.1.6, all applicants for admission to Georgia Regents University (formerly ASU) for Summer 2013 or any academic semester thereafter will be required to provide validation of lawful presence in the United States. Acceptance to Georgia Regents University is conditional until lawful presence is verified. ALL applicants must submit documentation that verifies his/her lawful presence in the United States.
  3. Please note, providing false or incomplete information on this application or any of the documents supporting your application for admission can result in denial of admission, invalidation of an acceptance decision, or, following matriculation, administrative disenrollment or dismissal. Students are subject to disenrollment or dismissal for falsifying application information at any time during enrollment prior to graduation.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE APPLICATION

  1. Carefully follow the instructions for completing each portion of the application. A final admissions decision cannot be made until your complete application is received. All sections must be completed prior to submission of your application. When you are finished, click the 'SUBMIT' button on the left column of any application screen.
  2. Be sure to answer all the questions on this application. A tuition classification (in-state/out-of-state) ruling must be made before your application can be completely processed. If your classification should come into question, you will be asked to submit additional documentation to support this status.
  3. Once your application has been received and processed you should use the online status check available on our website, www.gru.edu/admissions, to review your application status on a regular basis. Upon receipt of your electronic application, a confirmation e-mail will be generated and sent to the e-mail address you provided. Likewise, you will receive a letter in the mail with your GRU account login information. Once you have received this confirmation, please proceed by submitting your supporting documentation. Please note: We will notify you via the check status feature and your newly created GRU e-mail account. 
  4.   The following must be submitted by the application deadline before your application will be considered:

a.      Freshman Applicants/Dual Enrollment Applicants:

§  Transcripts: Request that your official high school transcript(s) be sent to the Office of Academic Admissions, Georgia Regents University, 2500 Walton Way, GA 30904.

§  SAT/ACT scores: Request that an official report of your SAT/ACT score(s) be sent to the Office of Academic Admissions. A score on an official high school transcript is acceptable

§  Completed Immunization Form

§  Verification of Lawful Presence

§  Any Additional Test Scores (AP/IB/CLEP)

b.    Transfer/Post-Bacculareate/Additional Degree/Audit Students:

§  An official transcript from EACH high school or college and university attended.

o   This includes any transient courses, joint enrollment, and transfer work.

o   Transcripts should be mailed to GRU's OAA directly from the Registrar's office of the institution. Applicants may also deliver or mail official transcripts to GRU's OAA if the transcript remains in the original, unopened, sealed and stamped/signed envelope from the Registrar's office at the institution.

§  Completed Immunization Form

§  Verification of Lawful Presence

§  Any Additional Test Scores (AP/IB/CLEP)

c.       Transient Students

§  A letter of good standing or transient letter of permission from your home institution.

§  A current, official transcript from your home institution

5.  All International applicants and/or applicants whose first language is not English must submit official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores.

a.      Minimum scores of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 79 (Internet-based) are required for admissions consideration, but do not ensure acceptance.

b.      TOEFL scores must be less than two years old.

c.       Contact TOEFL/Educational Testing Service, PO Box 6155, Princeton, NJ 08541-6155, USA.

d.      *Exemption from the TOEFL requirement is allowed for undergraduate transfer students who satisfy at least one of the following four criteria:

§  Complete courses equivalent to English Composition I and II at a regionally accredited U.S. college or university and earn at least a 2.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) on the two courses, with neither grade below a "C"

§  Submit a score of at least 430 on the Verbal portion of the SAT Assessment Test (SAT)

§  Submit proof of earning a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university at which English is the language of instruction

  1. International applicants must also provide:

o  Verification of transcripts from foreign colleges and universities by an approved transcript evaluation service.

o  If accepted, international students must submit documentation of personal funds before a Form I-20 Certificate of Eligibility can be issued.



FRESHMAN REQUIREMENTS

§  Freshman index = 2040

o   Test scores: SAT verbal score of 430+ and SAT math score of 400+

o   Or ACT English and mathematics scores of = 17

o   Required High School Curriculum (RHSC): 17 units must have been completed


GENEREAL FRESHMAN AND TRANSFER ADMISSIONS DEADLINES

-  Spring Applicants

o   December 1: Final Admissions Deadline

·        Please note: Deadlines for specific program admission can be found at www.gru.edu/admissions. Please select the appropriate admissions category. Please note that most health science specific programs (students who have met pre-requisites) enroll new students only one term per year. Submitting your application and materials early will ensure that your application is complete by the posted application deadline. Program Specific applicants may not receive an admissions decision until after the posted application deadline.

·        First-time freshmen and transfer students applying for fall semester entry will be considered for admission beginning in August of the previous year and decisions will continue to be made throughout the academic year until enrollment goals have been met. It is recommended that students apply as early as possible to be considered for admission, university housing, scholarship funding, and need-based financial aid.

2.      The Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) is available at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Please note, please list both Augusta State University and Georgia Health Sciences Unviersity on your FAFSA.

4.      Financial Aid deadlines are as follows:

To complete this online application, type your answers in the corresponding fields or select your answers from the popup lists (where applicable).

After you complete a screen, click the NEXT button at the bottom or on one of the sections listed on the left column to move to a different screen. Before you are allowed to jump screens, we will inspect your data on the current screen for errors or inconsistencies. If errors or omissions are found, you will be returned to the screen to correct your answer(s). Otherwise, your data will be saved and you will proceed to the requested screen. We also allow you to skip to another screen without your new data being saved.
