A message from the campus:

Thank you for considering Georgia Highlands College, a limited mission, four-year state college within the University System of Georgia. GHC has five campus locations serving all of northwest Georgia in Cartersville, Douglasville, Floyd, Marietta and Paulding. Our students choose Georgia Highlands College for a variety of reasons, but some of the strongest are:

The Application:

Please pay close attention to the term selected on the application. The fall term begins mid-August, the spring term begins in January and the Summer term includes a May, June, and July term.

Prior to the application deadline, students should submit the application, the application fee and all required admissions documents including official copies of the most recent transcripts.  Application deadlines for each term can be found at

Care should be taken to answer each question completely and accurately as these responses determine your residency status and tuition rate. Leaving the residency questions blank will result in being charged out-of-state tuition rates. If a student has difficulty with interpreting a question, contact a GHC representative at one of our locations listed below.

The documents required to complete the admissions process can be determined by reviewing the Application Procedures information below. Note that failure to list the applicant’s high school and all colleges previously or currently attended may result in disqualification of the application.  This includes colleges you enrolled but did not complete the term. All documents submitted to Georgia Highlands College become the property of Georgia Highlands College and we are unable to provide copies of any document submitted.

Approximately two weeks following our receipt of an application, an online account is created to enable the applicant to track the admissions status online through the Check Admissions Status link located on the GHC home page.

All applicants accepted for admission or readmission to Georgia Highlands who seek to be classified as in-state for tuition purposes, will be required to provide validation of residency and lawful presence in both the State of Georgia and the United States. Information about the documents required to satisfy this requirement may be found at In some cases, the college may request additional documentation.

Admissions Procedures

  • After reading the instructions, please fill out this online application as thoroughly as possible. When you are finished, click the SUBMIT button on the left column of any application screen. Print the application agreement statement that appears after you submit your application and keep for your records. The application will not be processed until the application fee of $30 is received.

  • Request that all official documents (high school and/or college transcripts, GED scores, certificate of immunization) be sent directly to:

  • Submit the GHC Certificate of Immunization Form prior to orientation.

  • Freshman: Request that an official transcript of all high school work completed be sent to Georgia Highlands College (GHC). If you take college courses while completing your senior year of high school, request an official transcript from the college be sent directly to GHC.

  • Transfer: Request that an official transcript be sent directly to GHC from EACH college or university previously attended. If you have less than 30 "transferable" semester hours of college credit you will need to provide an official copy of your high school transcript.

  • Transient: Submit a copy of the transient permission letter from the college or university you are currently attending.

  • Former student: If you have been a student at GHC (formerly Floyd College) previously, you should complete the READMISSION APPLICATION and not this form.

  • Nontraditional: If you have graduated from high school over five years ago, provide proof of high school graduation or GED, and/or college transcripts.

  • International students: Admissions requirements for applicants other than U.S. citizens and/or applicants educated outside the U.S. may be found at the following link:

  • If your first language is not English or your primary language of instruction was not English, submit an official copy of either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or satisfactory SAT/ACT scores.

To complete this online application, type your answers in the corresponding fields or select your answers from the popup lists (where applicable).

After you complete a screen, click the NEXT button at the bottom or on one of the sections listed on the left column to move to a different screen. Before you are allowed to jump screens, we will inspect your data on the current screen for errors or inconsistencies. If errors or omissions are found, you will be returned to the screen to correct your answer(s). Otherwise, your data will be saved and you will proceed to the requested screen. We also allow you to skip to another screen without your new data being saved. Be aware that if you use the Skip & Jump function on the left column, data on the current screen will not be saved and will have to be reentered prior to submittal.
