Thank you for considering Georgia Highlands College, a limited mission, four-year state college within the University System of Georgia. GHC has five campus locations serving all of northwest Georgia in Cartersville, Douglasville, Floyd, Marietta, Paulding and online.

The Application Process

Please go to the GHC Admissions web page at to review the requirements for your specific student type as each student type requires different documentation.

Prior to the application deadline, students should submit the application, the application fee and all required admissions documents for their specific student type. Application deadlines for each term can be found at

Failure to list your high school and all colleges previously or currently attended may result in disqualification of the application. All documents submitted to the GHC Office of Admissions becomes the property of Georgia Highlands College and we are unable to provide copies of any document submitted.

Care should be taken to answer each question completely and accurately as these responses determine your residency status and tuition rate. Applicants who leave the residency questions blank will be charged the current out-of-state tuition rates. If you have difficulty interpreting a question on the online application, please contact a GHC representative before final submission of your application.

All applicants accepted for admission or readmission to Georgia Highlands who seek to be classified as in-state for tuition purposes, will be required to provide validation of residency and lawful presence in both the State of Georgia and the United States. Information about the documents required to satisfy this requirement may be found at In some cases, the college may request additional documentation.

When you are finished, click the SUBMIT button on the left column of any application screen. Print the application agreement statement that appears after you submit your application and keep for your records. The application will not be processed until the application fee payment is received.

You are responsible for sending official supporting documents from all previously or currently attending colleges/universities and high schools as well as official test scores from SAT, ACT or GED testing authorities. Please have all official documents sent directly to Georgia Highlands College.

Financial Aid

Students applying for financial aid should complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as possible by visiting The financial aid priority dates are found at and the GHC Federal Code is 009507.

To complete this online application, type your answers in the corresponding fields or select your answers from the popup lists (where applicable).

After you complete a screen, click the NEXT button at the bottom or on one of the sections listed on the left column to move to a different screen. Before you are allowed to jump screens, we will inspect your data on the current screen for errors or inconsistencies. If errors or omissions are found, you will be returned to the screen to correct your answer(s). Otherwise, your data will be saved and you will proceed to the requested screen. We also allow you to skip to another screen without your new data being saved. Be aware that if you use the Skip & Jump function on the left column, data on the current screen will not be saved and will have to be reentered prior to submittal.
