Please note: This UWG online admission application should NOT be submitted if you: (1) previously attended UWG as a freshman or transfer student (use our readmission application) or (2) are an Advanced Academy of Georgia applicant (use our Advanced Academy Application)



Admissions Process

A) Apply: Please fill out the online application as thoroughly as possible. Be sure to answer ALL items on the application to assist in determining your admissability and tuition classification. When you are finished, click the 'SUBMIT' button on the left column of any application screen. Applicants must pay a nonrefundable $40 application fee** (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover).  Printable application forms are available at

B) Send in Your Documents: To determine admission eligibility, you should also request that required official admission documents be mailed directly to the Office of Admissions. You can access the Office of Admissions website at to review the admission requirements and required documents for your admission classification.

Please note: Official test scores are required before admission eligibility can be determined for freshmen and transfer students with less than 30 semester hours.

Official test scores can be received in one of two forms:

  1. Test scores sent directly from the testing agency to the UWG Office of Admissions
  2. Test scores on an official high school transcript

UWG's SAT code is 5900; ACT code is 0878.

C) Meet Our Deadlines: The following application and document deadline dates are strictly enforced*:

Fall semester:  June 1 (Deadline Has Been Extended to July 1)
Spring semester:  November 15
Summer semester:  May 15

*Applicants who submit application and/or documents within 30 days of the announced deadline date for the semester they wish to enroll may experience delay in other processing areas such as Financial Aid, Residence Life, Advisement, and Orientation/Registration.

Online Degree and Certificate Programs

Online Degree and Certificate Programs may not be available in all states. If you are an out-of-state student, please contact the Director of Distance Education to confirm that the program is available in your state.

Verification of Lawful Presence

The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia now requires all applicants to USG institutions to provide proof of Lawful Presence in the United States in order to be classified as In-State for tuition purposes. This change is effective immediately for all applicants for Fall Semester 2011, and subsequent semesters. See policy below.*

You MUST prove lawful presence in the United States in ONE of the following ways before you can be admitted as a student paying in-state tution costs:

Lawful presence can be determined through your completed FAFSA. The University of West Georgia school code for the FAFSA is 001601.


  • Your current Driver's License or ID issued by the State of Georgia after January 1, 2008
  • Your current U.S. Passport.
  • Your current/valid Permanent Resident Card
  • Your certified U.S. Birth Certificate showing the student was born in the U.S. or U.S. territory.  A photocopy is not acceptable unless the original has been reviewed by staff.
  • Your U.S. Certificate of Naturalization (USCIS form N-550 or N-570).
  • Your U.S. Certificate of Citizenship (USCIS form N-560 or N-561)..
  • Your U.S. Certificate of Birth Abroad issued by the Department of State (DS-1350) or a      Consular Report of Birth Abroad (FS240).

    *BOR Policy 4.3.4: Each University System institution shall verify the lawful presence in the United States of every successfully admitted person applying for resident tuition status (in-state tuition), as defined in Section 7.3 of their Policy Manual, and of every person admitted to an institution referenced in Section 4.1.6 of their Policy Manual.

    To complete this online application, type your answers in the corresponding fields or select your answers from the popup lists (where applicable).

    After you complete a screen, click the NEXT button at the bottom or on one of the sections listed on the left column to move to a different screen. Before you are allowed to jump screens, we will inspect your data on the current screen for errors or inconsistencies. If errors or omissions are found, you will be returned to the screen to correct your answer(s). Otherwise, your data will be saved and you will proceed to the requested screen. We also allow you to skip to another screen without your new data being saved. Be aware that if you use the Skip & Jump function on the left column, data on the current screen will not be saved and will have to be reentered prior to submittal.
